More Intention is My Mantra

Published about 3 years ago • 1 min read

Reader,

As I learn how to build an online business the biggest thing that slows me down is making sure I'm working with intention, integrity and authenticity. I don't want to create things, just for likes or comments. I don't want to make anything click baity and I don't want to be in your inbox unless I can be proud of the words I'm sending you.

Luckily I've found mentors that have taught me how to think about this newsletter and all the things I'm creating to serve my community.

That's why I'm proud to call this newsletter the You're Awesome Newsletter.

I started this newsletter over a year ago. At first I tried to make it a bi-monthly letter and I really struggled with what to share and write. (Thank you to those of you who have been here from the beginning.) My initial strategy didn't work because I didn't have a strong intention for why I was sending emails. I knew I wanted to connect with you and share what I'm doing, but I also wanted this newsletter to be valuable to you. So I quickly stopped sending emails after a few months in 2019. I only regrouped 3 months ago because I found something I could be proud to share - stories of inspiration, learning, and support.

Life sucks sometimes. And when life gets hard, we forget how awesome we actually are. Time and time again I come back to that lesson. And that's the lesson I keep seeing with my clients too. There's so much amazingness inside each of us. I want to be there to tell you that what you might think are flaws are actually strengths. What you might perceive as a negative situation, could be a good situation. And what might be an insurmountable obstacle - is not, and conquering it will only make you a better person.

I promise to only write and send you things that are helpful. Either because they were helpful to me or they were helpful to someone I know. And I promise to always be myself.

So if you haven't heard it lately - You Are AWESOME. You are GREAT. You are SUPER COOL.

I'm extremely happy to know you and that you're in my life.

Please spread the message to one person in your life today. Tell them they are awesome and keep this awesome chain flowing!

Much Gratitude,

Miinkay

Growing up I somehow learned that being humble meant acting like you weren't good enough. If someone complimented me for my piano recital piece, I was supposed to say, "Thank you but I don't deserve it." Or, "Oh no, it's not me, I have a very good teacher." Deflect, divert, and never take credit. You're not allowed to take credit or you will seem arrogant. I lived most of my life that way, until I saw how it was affecting the rest of my life. I took it to the extreme, and never gave myself...

I missed you last month. Even though writing a newsletter was on my mind, in the end I decided I needed time to reflect instead of write. So that's what I did. November was a month of endings for me. I've decided to close my LLC and move to a sole proprietorship while I process the evolution of my business. I learned a TON of things about myself in therapy and decided to take a break to integrate and work on some emotional blocks solo. Most of what I've worked through is the pressure I put on...

Earlier this year I wrote about how I was learning to slow down. I gave myself a goal - to understand that rest can bring me peace, happiness and abundance. And to be honest, I totally forgot about this goal for about 4 months ha. But when I rediscovered it, I promptly put it on a sticky note on my computer monitor so I could see it every day. The things I've been doing to reach this goal are - take naps, do less, commit to less, work less, think less often. To someone else this list may seem...
